Meeting with Dr. Allain
During your first visit to West Oakland Dental Artistry, we focus on identifying your oral health problems and determining your candidacy for dental implants. Using our advanced diagnostic technology, Dr. Allain will conduct an in-depth examination of your teeth, gums, and jawbone to determine if you’ll need a supplemental treatment before moving forward with dental implants.
After completing your oral exam, Dr. Allain will inform you of all possible treatment options that best fit your smile goals. He’ll also explain the entire treatment process, provide you with an estimate of your treatment–not including your dental insurance coverage– and help you decide which restorative treatment is the optimal choice for you.
Supplemental Treatments
Supplemental treatments are generally recommended for patients who don’t initially qualify for dental implant treatment. During your consultation with Dr. Allain, he’ll determine whether the condition of your smile requires preliminary treatment such as sinus augmentation, ridge modification, and extractions.
Two of the most common supplemental treatments Dr. Allain uses to prepare smiles for dental implants are bone grafting and gum disease treatment.
The Step-by-Step Procedure
- If you don’t require a supplemental procedure, Dr. Allain will place the dental implant fixture into your jaw during your first appointment. He’ll then place a temporary crown to protect the surgical area while it heals.
- During your healing period, a process called osseointegration will occur where your implant fuses with the jawbone in order to provide stable support for your final restoration.
- After this process, you’ll return to our Highland office so Dr. Allain can ensure your implant has integrated with your jawbone successfully.
- In the final step, Dr. Allain will complete the process by placing your permanent, natural-looking, and fully-functioning restoration over the implant fixture. You’ll be able to leave our office with a rejuvenated smile that radiates confidence.
